Dive Bombing birds in the kelp beds got Calvin's attention yesterday around 10am. As an avid fisherman he knew that fish that were attracting this bird activity and decided to venture out for a closer look with his paddle board and fishing pole. Calvin Tom owns and operatesBoardfisher, a local company that makes gear for fishing from a stand up paddle board.
Ty Ponder, another avid fisherman also hauled in an unsual catch yesterday. He found a fake shark fin attached to PVC pipe that may have used to scare people out of the crowded line up at Swamis. The fin looks very similar to the fin in the picture that was beamed around the world by the media. The picture of the shark was analyzed by shark experts, many of whom thought it was a great white.
